Retrofreak asked:
He begged for it while I was eating it but I figured he wouldn’t actually eat it when he found out it was that hot…it’s Bumble Bee brand Spicy Thai Chili Tuna salad with crackers. He ate about a tablespoon full and didn’t seem to want water after or anything.

I wouldn’t recomend feeding it to him again. you might have some nasty litterbox issues in a little while.
November 24th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
If he likes it and doesn’t have any adverse after effects, then it’s fine. I would be afraid of giving it to him too often though, it could cause an ulcer.

Products that are made for people are generally not healthy for any animal. However if the feline has not shown any sort of pain or difference in her performance you should have nothing to worry about.
November 28th, 2009 at 8:28 am
yeah, cat’s can eat just about anything. The only thing you shouldn’t let him eat is chocolate, but that’s okay sometimes.

SURE ITS OK IF HE DOES NOT GET THE SHIT

(1) Don’t feed a cat tuna, it’s too addictive and he can start refusing any other food.
(2) Don’t feed a cat any food that is highly spiced such as humans eat. Nothing in their evolutionary history has prepared their digestive systems to handle spicey or highly salted foods.

i really dnt no i hope your cat dnt get diearea
December 8th, 2009 at 11:05 pm
I don’t think he will eat enough to hurt him. If you are worried about it,put him some regular tuna in his food bowl. He really only wants the fish anyway. My dog loves hot salsa and chips.Folks told me it would make her sick, instead she stopped sneezing so much. She has alot of sinus problems.
December 9th, 2009 at 4:46 am
You should never feed your cat people food. It is not healthy for them.
December 10th, 2009 at 2:55 am
It should be okay as long as your cat does not seem to be affected by it. You’ll know this the next time the cat box is changed. Just don’t make it a habit of feeding it to your cat. Cats’ digestive systems are not able to handle spicy food as well as humans’.
My American Short Hair loves Hot Cheetos, but even though he begs every time he sees someone eating them, me and my family only let him have one once or twice a month.

only if he is a thaimese cat
December 13th, 2009 at 8:35 am
NO! BAD IDEA! Give your cat a new cat food product.
December 15th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
have fun cleaning up the diarrhea, that he will spray all over the house
December 17th, 2009 at 2:38 am
dont feed your cat that stick to cat food or your cat WILL become picky and wont eat catfood also are you trying to kill your cat!!!! thats not a safe thing to feed your cat a little plain tuna every once and a while or wet cat food dont feed your cat hot stuff it will tear tru there stomach like a hot knife through butter be safe and dont hurt your cat.:)
December 19th, 2009 at 8:10 am
i think that you did the right thing by giving you r cat that ,but i think your cat may have acid reflux disease.
December 21st, 2009 at 11:18 pm
I wouldn’t have thought it would do him any good! If he has something like this again try giving him some milk as it will neutralize the spices!
December 24th, 2009 at 4:00 am
you might have to clean up his puke.
December 25th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
cats cannot differentiate between various flavors because they lack the sophistication of taste buds that we have. I don’t think, however, that it’s a good idea to feed this to your cat because it may cause gastrointestinal distress and a plethora of fecal problems all over your house.
December 27th, 2009 at 11:33 pm
Be careful about what you feed your cat with.
We used to give our cat canned tuna (in water, not oil). She loved it! Well, she is dead, now. She had liver problems, caused by the tuna. They put something in the cans that cats can’t handle very well. We didn’t know it at the time! We didn’t even feed her with tuna a lot. Just once in a while.
Anyway. Just be careful. They don’t have the same digestive system as human beings. Also, some cat food brands are not very good for cats’ liver either. Ask your veterinarian nexy time you go see him. Or ‘m sure you can find info on what’s good for them on websites dedicated to cats’ wellbeing. Just be careful those sites are not created by a cat food company.
And since we are talking about cats: have you ever seen the video where cats talk? Well, it’s ok if it does it by himself. But if you’re scratching the end of his back (close to its tail), it’s dangerous for the cat. My sister used to scratch her cat there because her cat loved it (which is unusual, actually), and she had to take her to the doctor because she starting having nervous problems! She had to give her pills!

Think about it – a cat with a severe stomach ache and
a diarrhea mess for you to clean up – what fun!!!
January 1st, 2010 at 12:44 am
I guess if he can tolerate it, it’s OK. I’d ask the vet just in case though. I had a cat once that used to beg for raw onions and green peppers.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:26 am
No. I gave my cat spicy food once, and she ended up with really bad diarrhea
January 7th, 2010 at 3:15 am
Didn’t say wheter the cat was male or female. I agree with offkey as well. I inherited a male cat who’s owner fed him people tuna on a regular basis. Christmas eve he spent several hours just laying in the litter box. Rushed to vet, emergency surgery, otherwise vet said he would have been dead shortly. It is not good for their urinary tract. He couldn’t pee because it was blocked. That alone was excruciatingly painful. And always check the ash content on the back of the cat food cans as well. Should be as low as possible. Didn’t get a chance to read rest of answers yet, but I’m sure others have told you same. Cat’s digestive systems are different. Although well meaning, people have a tendency to kill their pets with kindness.
January 10th, 2010 at 11:56 am
No. It is not. While animals have strong digestive system you should not make a habit of feeding animals spicy food. It may not kill them but it may give them bowel problems
January 10th, 2010 at 12:42 pm
Personally, I wouldn’t recommend feeding your cat any, quote unquote, “people food” until you consult with your local veterinarian.
January 12th, 2010 at 4:25 am
That’s not good. It’s ot very healthy. The tuna is too much if you feed him that on a regular basis. And don’t get me started on the spicy stuff. You know better this time, but please donn’t do it again, for the cat’s sake.
January 13th, 2010 at 5:36 pm
No it is not safe for your cat to eat that because sometimes table food can hurt an animal .
January 14th, 2010 at 2:55 am
Tuna is out because of the Mercury in the fish.
January 14th, 2010 at 2:58 pm
Really this is the featured question? And why are you eating such a weird combo?
January 17th, 2010 at 5:53 am
Feed it to him and squirt a little sauce up hi ass while your at it.
January 18th, 2010 at 7:50 am
well cats have VERY sensative stomachs… so he may puke or have runny poop for the next few days.. so cats dont know whats bad and whats good, thats why they have owners! so if your a responcible pet owner, I wouldnt give it to him…. it will make him sick,, and besides hes a cat! not a human!
January 20th, 2010 at 8:30 am
In the first place, it is not good for a cat to eat people tuna. Ask a vet, he will confirm this.
The fish used in regular cans of tuna is not the same as that in cat food. Forget the peppers, it’s the tuna that can harm your cat.
January 21st, 2010 at 7:17 am
PLEASE READ: I have cats for the last 10 years. I always did research about foods, and ways of taking care of them, etc. Tuna is the worst food created for cats. I mean, their own tuna. Do not give the cat any kind of tuna. Is bad for their health, and its made with something that cut their life shorter. Nothing that human eats neither. Their digestive system is completely different than human beings and very delicate. And is true that is not good to scratch him close to his tail except in his head. Take care of him/her, they are really good animals to be love and watch out for.
January 24th, 2010 at 3:32 pm
yes it’s okay, i fed my cat with louisiana extremely spicy hot sauce…………. he threw it all up after that, and he’s still ALIVE!
January 27th, 2010 at 7:40 pm
he obersly liked it.
January 29th, 2010 at 3:29 am
he shouldbe okay as long AS IT WAS A SMALL PORPORTION
January 30th, 2010 at 10:40 pm
he will be fine………………..
February 3rd, 2010 at 7:46 am
Regular tuna is fine. But that HOT stuff is NOT a good idea for any cat.
February 3rd, 2010 at 10:59 pm
I don’t know about everyone else’s answer but mine is a diffenet NO NO !! CAUSE after all if animal is suppose to eat table scraps WHY DID THE INVENT OR COME OUT WITH CATFOOD OR EVEN DOG FOOD FOR ANIMALS !! THINK ABOUT IT . IT probably could her / him to not want to trust you too much when the next feeding comes around then again it could cause the animal to not want to eat their own food at the next feeding time either. SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT.
February 4th, 2010 at 9:04 pm
Not recommended feeding chili peppers to animal ,its not harmful but the cat might fart and smelly litter too ..
February 6th, 2010 at 8:37 pm
well…it’s not so much about the way it goes in as the way it comes out….be prepared!
February 8th, 2010 at 7:47 pm
Should be fine going in… but he’ll want water on his a$$hole the next time he drops a dougan.
February 9th, 2010 at 7:48 am
Sure he begged for it. He smelled tuna. Shame on you for doing that to your poor cat. You should have known better. If a child begged for a taste of a jalapeno, would you stick one in his mouth? I don’t think so. Treat your animals better.
February 12th, 2010 at 7:49 am
i think tuna makes them go bald lol
February 12th, 2010 at 2:38 pm
One bite won’t kill him, but don’t overdo it. He could have some pooping problems if he eats too much.
February 12th, 2010 at 4:50 pm
ya if ya want him to have gas
February 15th, 2010 at 6:19 pm
Go ahead! Your cat will love it! So will your carpet cleaners!
That cat will be crapping through a screen door in a few hours!
February 17th, 2010 at 10:17 am
Ayyyyyyyiii…he might be okay,…but the cat box will be the telling tale. You might wanna scoop that one as soon as he exits. I would not recommend feeding that to him on a regular basis, especially if he does not eat that stuff normally. Just like a human, cats will be sick at one end or the other if they eat something they are not used to. Also, watch out,…their digestive track is fragile.
February 19th, 2010 at 3:08 am
yah , if the cat like than its okay becoz a animal first snifs the food then eat it but if it doesnt suites its taste then animals avoid eating it.
